Warned rowdy sheeters
The police commissioner warned rowdy sheeters that they would take stern action if they were found involved in any anti-social activity.
The commissioner counseled 283 rowdy sheeters at police barracks grounds on Wednesday. He told the media that they have graded the rowdy elements as per their activities.
He said a close watch has been kept on them round the clock and if they repeated the same offense they would be booked under PD Act and later banished from the city.
āWe will also request the courts to cancel their bail if some seasoned rowdies are involved in serious offenses,ā the commissioner said.
He said the government was ready to help with the rowdy sheeters if they gave up their antisocial activities. The commissioner denied that rowdies were involved in ganja smuggling and in the real estate business.
He said those involved in these two activities would be dealt with separately. On drunken brawls and killings, the commissioner said notices were issued to the management of both bars and shops.
āThe law and order situation is fully under control and our efforts in controlling the anti-social elements in the city will be seen shortly,āā the commissioner said.
