Vizag shocker: Man shot dead over property dispute; accused flee

Visakhapatnam: A 52-year-old-man was shot dead allegedly by his relatives at Bushibandha village under Kitumula Panchayat of Chintapalle police station limits in Vizag Agency. Police suspect that old rivalry and property disputes might be the reason for the murder.

Though the incident took place on Friday, it came to light on Sunday only after the relatives of the victim approached the police.

The deceased was identified as Pangi Sumath, a farmer by profession. The accused have been identified as S Pentayya and S Nageswara Rao.

Police said that Sumath and his wife Rassu went to their relatives' home at Pedabayalu in Vizag Agency. While the couple was returning to Bushibandha, Sumath' relatives, Pentayya and Nageswara Rao, were waiting in the forest area. They first attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon and later shot him dead using a country-made gun.

Locals believe that the property dispute between Sumath and Pentayya and old rivalry were the reasons for the murder.

Police have registered a case and shifted the body to the government hospital at Chintapalle for the postmortem. Police have formed a team to nab the accused.
