Vizag: Two juveniles sentenced to 3 years in prison for raping 7YO
The two juveniles were held guilty under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and under section 6 of the POCSO Act-2012 by the court.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 3 Nov 2022 4:30 AM GMTVisakhapatnam, November 2: Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board, Vizag, sentenced two juveniles to three years in jail for raping a seven-year-old girl in 2018.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on the convicted juveniles. The court also ordered for the compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the victim.
The two juveniles were held guilty under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and under section 6 of the POCSO Act-2012 by the court.
Police said that the victim was a Class-II student when she was raped. Police said the incident occurred when the girl was going to her aunt's house on November 2, 2018. The two juveniles asked her to play with them. When the girl refused, they forcibly took her to an under-construction temple and raped her.
Initially, the victim girl didn't disclose the incident to her parents. Noticing that her daughter became weak and dull, the girl's mother asked what had happened. The girl narrated the entire episode to her mother.
Based on the complaint from the victim's parents, Padmanabham police registered a case and arrested the duo. The police completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet.
Judge KVL Himabindhu sentenced the duo to 3-years in jail and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each, said Special Public Prosecutor Sashi Kumari.
