Vizianagaram: Responding to the incident where a six-month-old baby was sexually assaulted by a 40-year-old man in a village under Ramabhadrapuram mandal in Vizianagaram district, home minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that a special court will be formed to take immediate action against the accused.

The incident happened on July 13 but came to light on July 14. The police arrested the accused on Sunday.

According to the DSP of Bobbili, K Srinivasa Rao said the accused Boya Erakanna Dora is a farmer and a relative of the victim. He used to visit her home regularly.

On Saturday, when the victimā€™s mother went to buy groceries, the accused came to their house and sexually assaulted the baby while she was sleeping in a cradle. When the baby started crying, the victimā€™s 10-year-old sister was alerted. She came into the room to see the accused holding the baby who had blood stains all over.

She immediately informed the mother, who along with the villagers, tried to catch the accused. The baby was shifted to a government hospital in Vizianagaram town.

Based on the complaint from the family, the police registered a case under section 65 (2) of BNS and relevant sections under the POCSO Act, 2012.

ā€œDora was inebriated at the time of the crime. We have discussed the case and other crimes against children with chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. We will act strictly to avoid such incidents in the future,ā€ said Anitha.

The home minister announced Rs 5 lakhs of financial assistance to the victimā€™s family.

Also, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha has said Chandrababu Naidu had sanctioned a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the minor girl who was gang-raped in Nandyal district. On July 7, three boys allegedly gang-raped the nine-year-old girl and then pushed her into the Mucchumarri Lift Irrigation Canal in Mucchumarri village.
