Vizianagaram horror: DSP’s driver rapes girl after tying friend; 2 arrested

Srikakulam: Police have arrested a home guard for allegedly raping a woman in front of her male friend in Vizianagaram district. His friend who helped in the crime was also arrested

Identified as Raju Kumar, the home guard serves in Srikakulam district police.

The incident occurred on May 25 but came to light on May 31 after the victim approached the police.

On May 25, noticing the woman and her friend at the isolated place, Raju Kumar, who was with his friend, threatened the couple. He asked them to come to the police station for counseling. The home guard also extorted money from the couple.

Later, Kumar and his friend tied the woman's friend and sexually assaulted her. After committing the crime, Raju Kumar and his friend fled from the spot in the car after threatening the couple with dire consequences.

Sub-Inspector of Disha Police Station, Vizianagaram, P Narayana Rao said that the victim complained to the accused home guard Raju Kumar on Friday night. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Raju Kumar is a driver of a DSP rank officer in Srikakulam district police.

Kumar dropped the DSP in the police vehicle at Vizag city on May 25. While returning to Srikakulam from Vizag city, the home guard picked up his friend. On the way to Srikakulam, he committed the heinous crime.

A case has been registered under section 376 of IPC (rape) against Raju Kumar and his friend for abetment.
