Vizianagaram horror: Man rapes 14YO speech and hearing impaired girl; flees

Vizianagaram: A 26-year-old man allegedly raped a 14-year-old speech and hearing impaired girl in a village under Rajam Mandal in the Vizianagaram district. Though the incident took place on April 26, it came to light on Thursday night when the victim's parents approached the police.

Sub-Inspector of Rajam, VBRK Rao said the victim is a student. The girl used to board auto-rickshaw to and from home. On April 26 afternoon, the girl was waiting for an auto-rickshaw when the accused belonging to the same village offered her a lift on his bike.

The man took her to an isolated place near a canal where he allegedly raped her, the police added. The girl was spotted crying by some female passers-by. They also saw the accused fleeing the spot. Later, the women narrated the incident to the victim's father.

Based on the complaint from the victim's parents, the police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO. The SI said a team has been formed to nab the accused, who is on the run.
