Youth Murder Mystery in Vizianagaram
Vizianagaram, February 20: Tension has gripped Rajam town in Vizianagaram district after 20-year-old missing youth was found dead. Family members and relatives of the deceased attacked the residents of Menthipeta alleging that D Venkatesh was murdered by some youngsters of Menthipeta.
They also pelted stones at houses and vehicles. As the situation turned tense, policemen were deployed in strength to prevent possible clashes in the locality. D Venkatesh of Rajam town, who went on January January 19, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the bushes near a tank at Gopalspuram in Vizianagaram district.
A group of women who had gone near the tank found the body and informed the police. Police have managed to identify the body and informed the family members of the deceased Venkatesh.
Venkatesh, a class-X dropout and supported his family by painting works. Though the police have registered a missing case, their efforts proved futile to trace the missing Venkatesh.
The family members of Venkatesh also searched for him in over ten locations but to no avail. The family members are suspecting that Venkatesh might have been murdered by some persons and dumped the body near the tank.
“We have retrieved the body and a team of doctors conducted a post-mortem on the body. We have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC (unnatural death) and will intensify the investigation once we get the post-mortem report,” said Inspector of Rajam rural police station H Upendra.
He said they didn’t find any injuries on the body. “We have formed a special team to ascertain the exact reasons (possible suicide or murder) for the death. We are also examining the CCTV footage at some locations to get a lead in the case,” the Inspector added.
