Vizianagaram: A man and his two sons were killed while three others suffered injuries when a speeding car ran over them in S Kota Mandal of Vizianagaram district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Killo Senapathi (32) and his two sons K Sravan (8) and K Suhan (4). Senapathi's wife Sravani and two others including a four-year-old-girl Kosara Suhitha suffered injuries in the incident. Witnesses said the victims were eating ice apples when the incident occurred.

Police said Senapathi was a native of Konapuram village under Ananthagiri Mandal of ASR district and he was working as warden at a Government Residential School for Tribals at Sivalingapuram in Vizianagaram district.

On Sunday, Senapathi along with his wife and two sons was heading towards Sivalingapuram on his bike. On the way to Sivalingapuram, the two children noticed ice apples on the roadside and asked their father to stop the vehicle. While Senapathi and his family were consuming the ice apples, a speeding car heading towards Vizag from Araku ran over them. Such was the speed, that the car turned turtle after hitting the people. Locals said that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to over-speeding and bad road. The speeding car wreaked havoc by ramming into parked vehicles before killing the family. Senapathi's two children Sravan and Suhan died on the spot. Senapathi and his wife Sravani suffered severe injuries. Kosara Appa Rao and his niece Suhitha who were consuming the ice apples at the same spot also suffered injuries in the incident.

Senapathi was admitted to KG Hospital in Vizag city, where he died a few hours later. The condition of Suhitha is said to be critical. The passengers inside the car escaped with injuries. Police have registered a case.
