Vizianagaram youth held for cheating mahila police officer, threatening to upload her photos

Vizianagaram: The S Kota police in Vizianagaram district arrested an engineering assistant of a grama sachivalayam on Saturday for cheating his girlfriend, a mahila police, on the pretext of marriage and defaming her.
The youth has been identified as 24-year-old Naveen Reddi.
The inspector of S Kota police station, S. Simhadri Naidu, said Naveen and the woman police officer had been together for over two years. He had promised to marry her and had taken intimate photographs of and selfies with her.
The couple's parents had agreed to their marriage and had decided to conduct the marriage in a few months. However, Naveen had demanded Rs. 50 lakh from the woman's parents to construct a house. The parents had said they could not pay such a large amount. Naveen and the woman had been quarrelling over this for the past two months.
Naveen had broken off the marriage and used the woman's photos to defame her. He had also sent some photos to the woman's father. He threatened to upload the photos and selfies on social media.
Based on the woman's complaint, Naveen was arrested under section 376 of the IPC and relevant sections of the IT Act. He was produced before the court for judicial remand, said the police.
