Hyderabad, November 16: Police have arrested three drug peddlers who were trying to transport the banned marijuana from Sileru of Andhra Pradesh to Mumbai via Boduppal in Hyderabad.
The three arrested are identified as Thanniru Santhosh alias Sunny (29) from Boduppal, Hyderabad, Suguru Vasudeva Reddy alias Vasu (25) from Boduppal, and Ponnam Rajeshwar (25), Secunderabad.
Around 1240 kilograms of Ganja, an Innova vehicle, a Tata Ace vehicle, a Tata Indica Car, two mobile phones and cash of Rs.5000, and other materials worth Rs.2,08,05,000 were seized from their possession. They were nabbed by a joint team of Special Operation Team (SOT) LB Nagar along with Medipally police on November 15.
The other three involved in drug peddling Shaik Yaseen alias Feroz (32) from Nacharam, Hyderabad, Chunchu Ravinder (25) Dammaiguda village of Keesara Mandal, and Manda Madhu alias Babu (27) from Nacharam, Hyderabad are absconding.
On the night of November 14, the accused persons packed nearly 180 kg of loose ganja in 73 packets each weighing about 2 - 2.5 kg. Another 10 kilos of loose ganja was still kept in a gunny bag.
After that, they loaded all the packets containing 1230 KGs of ganja in the three vehicles for handing over the same to customers as per the orders.
Acting on credible information, the police raided the area. Three people, who were present at some distance, fled after seeing the police approaching.
