Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested Md. Khadeer, a Senior Accountant at the Sub-Treasury Office (STO) in Mothkur, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. He was allegedly demanding and accepting bribes to process official work.
Bribes via PhonePe
According to the official press note, the accused officer had initially demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant to process a salary bill of Rs 1,09,384 for 38 days. He eventually settled for Rs 5,000, which the complainant transferred via PhonePe to the account of the accused’s colleague, Niranjan, under Khadeer’s instructions.
The accused further blackmailed the same complainant to extract another Rs 5,000 to avoid Income Tax (IT) deductions on the February 2026 salary bill. The ACB investigation also revealed that Khadeer demanded and accepted a separate bribe of Rs 5,000 from another complainant on February 27 using his personal PhonePe account.
Investigation underway
The ACB stated that the accused officer performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue financial advantage. Following the arrest, Md. Khadeer was produced before the Additional Special Judge for the trial in Hyderabad.
