Hyderabad: The Madhuranagar Police have arrested a house owner in Yousufguda for allegedly installing a hidden camera inside a tenant’s bathroom.
The accused, identified as Ashok, was taken into custody, while his associate, an electrician named Chintu, is absconding.
Couple’s suspicion leads to shocking discovery
According to police, a couple had been living on rent in Ashok’s house at Jawaharnagar, Yousufguda. When the bathroom light stopped working, the tenants informed Ashok, who visited the house on October 4 along with Chintu to fix it.
Under the guise of repairing the light, the duo allegedly concealed a surveillance camera inside the bulb holder, aimed at recording the occupants.
Owner threatens tenants after discovery
The tenants stumbled upon the hidden camera on October 13 and confronted Ashok about it. Fearing exposure, Ashok allegedly removed the camera and replaced the bulb to destroy evidence.
He is also accused of threatening the couple not to inform the police, warning them that his electrician aide might harm them if they lodged a complaint.
Police register case, hunt for aide on
Acting on the couple’s complaint, the Madhuranagar Police registered a case and arrested Ashok. A search is underway to trace and apprehend Chintu, who remains at large.
Police said that the seized camera has been sent for forensic analysis to determine whether it contained any recordings. Further investigation is in progress.
