Currently, Praneeth is being held at Chanchalgudaās Central Prison for moderating obscene conversations on a father-daughter relationship during a YouTube livestream of the podcast he is a part of.
Praneeth was booked in the new case for consuming drugs under sections 79 and 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Test done by the investigators revealed that the YouTuber had previously used drugs.
On July 10, the TGCSB headed by senior IPS officer Shikha Goel arrested Praneeth Hanumanthu in Bengaluru and brought him back to Hyderabad for judicial proceedings. He was booked under Section 67B, IT and POCSO Act. Discussions over the moral limits of social media content creation and wider debate were sparked by this arrest.
Meanwhile, the Cyber security police also simultaneously petitioned the court for three days of incarceration so that Praneeth could be questioned in more detail regarding his drug use and any possible links to other illicit activity. Notices were also served to Praneeth's counsel in this regard.
