Shocking: Woman self-immolates in-front of Panjagutta Police station
By Newsmeter Network Published on 31 Dec 2019 6:40 PM ISTHyderabad: On Tuesday, December 31, evening, a woman attempted suicide in front of the Punjagutta police station in Hyderabad. She immolated herself after dousing herself with petrol. Police personnel rushed to her rescue and tried to put out the fire. However, by then, she had already suffered burns all over her body; she was rushed to the nearby NIMS Hospital.
According to sources, the incident happened around 6 pm on Tuesday. The victim walked towards the police station, stopped at the entrance, emptied a can of petrol on her and set herself ablaze.
While the police officers are yet to determine the specific cause behind her immolation, preliminary inquiries have shed light into the incident. The victim is married to Praveen from Warasiguda in Secunderabad. However, the couple were having disputes over family issues, due to which the victim and her daughter resided with the formerās mother.
Two days ago, she came to Hyderabad with a friend and checked into a lodge near Nampally railway station. On Tuesday, she had initially arrived at the station to complain against her husband. Inquiries revealed that she had a letter, addressing the Punjagutta ACP and Inspector. However, even before submitting the message, she immolated herself.
The police officers suspect that she took the extreme step because of family disputes. However, as she is not in a situation to speak, they are yet to conclude on the cause. They have informed her family members about the incident. Once they arrive, there could be clarity on what forced her to take the step, said a police officer. Further investigation is underway.
