Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cyber Crimes ACP Chintalapati Yadagiri Srinivas Kumar was announced as the recipient of the Indian Police Medal (IPM) for his services in the police department, on the eve of the Independence Day.

The ACP is currently working as a station house officer (ACP), at the Cyber Crime police station, Cyberabad. He was crucial in determining the modus operandi (MO) of various crimes, including skimming, phishing, smishing, vishing, fraud from fake customer care, I-T, employment, visa, gift, dating and escort and matrimony services along with trading and SIM swapping.

He has been instrumental in arresting many cybercriminals (both Indians & foreigners). In 2019, as many as 127 cybercrime cases were registered and 225 persons (including 20 foreigners) were arrested. He also served in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo for a year from 2002 to 2003 as a civilian police officer. Upon returning, he worked in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in 2003 to investigate the cases registered against counterfeiter, Abdul Karim Telgi.

He worked with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Hyderabad, as the inspector of police in the Central Investigation unit for five years, where several cases of corruption and disproportionate assets were investigated.

Meanwhile, T. Subramanyam, Cyberabad sub-inspector at the KPHB police station bagged the President’s Police Medal for his services.

Subramanyam joined the police department in 1984 as a constable and was promoted to head constable in 2002. He became the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in 2013 and an SI in 2018. Currently, he is working as the SI at the KPHB SS at the Cyberabad police commissionerate. Subramanyam who had also worked in Ranga Reddy district earlier has worked in several police stations under the Cyberabad commissionerate.

Speaking about their achievements, V.C Sajjanar, Cyberabad commissioner of police, said, “The excellent work done consistently by the awardees under the Cyberabad police commissionerate is commendable. Their work has all the marks of shrewdness and objectivity while maintaining a higher standard of integrity.”

He added, “From the day of joining the service, the awardees have exhibited a complete devotion and commitment to their duties. Whatever the positions they have held so far, they have conducted themselves selflessly, objectively, and sincerely.”
