Hyderabad: As per a report released by Rapido, 50 per cent of captains or drivers (every second captain) in the city report Rapido as their primary source of income. Rapido said that it has over 5.4 lakh active captains in the city.

As one of the platform’s largest livelihood hubs in South India, Hyderabad demonstrates how multi-category mobility platforms are evolving into primary income sources for urban workers, Rapido said in a statement.

How much does a Rapido captain earn?

For many in Hyderabad, Rapido has shifted from a side hustle to a primary career.

Primary Income: Nearly 50 per cent of captains (every second captain) in the city report Rapido as their primary source of income.

Monthly earnings: On average, captains earn between Rs 65,000 and Rs 1,00,000 per month.

Daily consistency: Depending on vehicle type and work patterns, daily earnings typically range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000.

Registration Scale: The active fleet is part of a massive ecosystem of over 34.3 lakh total registrations across various categories in the city.

Mobility scale and demand patterns

The scale of earning opportunities is fuelled by massive daily demand from Hyderabad’s commuters.

Ride Volume: The city sees over 9.1 lakh daily rides, totalling approximately 2.43 crore rides per month.

Peak Hour Activity: High-frequency earning windows are driven by office and college commutes, with nearly 4.7 lakh rides occurring during peak hours.

Commuter Benefits: Beyond providing livelihoods, the platform enables riders to save up to Rs 10,000 a month on commuting costs while offering faster average ETAs than competitors.
