AP polls: Winning parties' vote share up from 2019 polls; TDP 45.60%, BJP 2.83%

Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) managed to sweep the polls in the 2024 AP State Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. In the Assembly polls, it managed to win 135 out of the 175 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) and in the Lok Sabha polls, it won 16 out of the 25 Parliament Constituencies (PCs).

Vote share

In the Assembly polls, the TDP earned a vote share of 45.60 per cent and the BJP got 2.83 per cent. YSRCP's vote share was 39.37 per cent.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, TDP earned a vote share of 39.17 per cent and BJP got 0.84 per cent.

In the Lok Sabha polls, while TDP earned a vote share of 37.79 per cent, YSRCP got 39.61 per cent and BJP 11.28 per cent. In AP, Telugu Desam got into an alliance with the Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the BJP.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the Election Commission (ECI) data on the AP elections.

AP Assembly polls

While TDP won 135 seats, JSP won 21 and the BJP eight seats. The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) which was in power till June 4 (day of results) managed to bag 11 seats.

TDP

The TDP candidate with the highest number of winning votes is Ganta Srinivas Rao with 1,76,230 in Bhimili AC.

The candidate with the lowest number of losing votes went to Madduluri Mala Kondaiah with 72,700 votes in Chirala AC.

The highest margin of winning votes went to Palla Srinivas Rao in Gajuwaka AC with 95,235 votes from the runner-up AVSS Amaranth Gudivada from the YSRCP.

The lowest winning margin of votes was recorded in the contest between the winning candidate MS Raju and Iralakkappa of the YSRCP as only 351 votes!

JanaSena Party

The JSP candidate with the highest number of votes went to Panchakarla Ramesh Babu in Pendurthi AC with 1,49,611 votes. The highest margin of winning votes also went to Ramesh Babu with 81,870 votes difference from the runner-up Annareddy Adeep Raj of the YSRCP.

The lowest number of winning votes went to Jayakrishna Nimmaka with 75,208 votes in Palakonda AC.

The lowest margin of winning votes went to Chirri Balaraju in Polavaram at 7,935 votes from the runner-up Tellam Rajya Lakshmi of the YSRCP.

BJP

The BJP candidate who won the highest number of votes is Eswara Rao Nadukuditi with 1,12,770 votes in Etcherla AC.

The candidate with the lowest number of winning votes is Dr Partha Sarathi Valmiki in Adoni AC with 89,929 votes.

The highest margin of winning votes went to Vishnu Kumar Raju Penmetsa in Visakhapatnam North AC with 47,534 from the runner-up Kannaparaju Kammila of YSRCP.

The lowest winning margin of votes was in the contest between the winning candidate Satya Kumar Yadav and Kethireddy Venkata Rami Reddy of YSRCP with just 3,734 votes!

AP Lok Sabha polls

While TDP won 16 seats, JSP won 2, BJP 3 and YSRCP won 4 seats.

TDP

The TDP candidate who won the highest number of votes is Sribharat Mathukumli with 9,07,467 votes in Visakhapatnam PC. Sribharat also has the highest margin of winning votes with 5,04,247 votes while the runner-up Jhansi Lakshmi Botcha of the YSRCP won 4,03,220 votes.

The candidate with the lowest number of votes is Bastipati Nagaraju Panchanlingala with 6,58,914 votes in the Kurnool PC.

The lowest margin of winning votes was 50,199 between Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy and YSRCP Dr Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy in Ongole PC.

JSP

JSP candidates Tangella ā€˜Tea Time Udayā€™ Uday Srinivas and Balashowry Vallabhaneni won from the Kakinada and Machilipatnam PCs respectively. Uday Srinivas got 7,29,699 votes and won with a margin of 2,29,491 votes.

BJP

The BJP candidate with the highest number of votes went to CM Ramesh with 7,62,069 votes in Anakapalle PC. He also won with the highest winning margin of 2,96,530 votes from the runner-up Budi Mutyala Naidu of the YSRCP.
