`Educate her':  77% girls in 11-14 age group enrolled in Andhra govt schools

The survey has revealed that 2022 recorded the highest enrollment in government schools after 2006 in the age group of 6-14 years.

`Educate her:  77% girls in 11-14 age group enrolled in Andhra govt schools

Andhra Pradesh: A new survey has revealed that 77% of girls in the age group 11-14 are enrolled in Andhra Pradesh government schools. This is the highest enrollment rate in government schools. Likewise, 64.1% of boys in the age group 7-10 years are enrolled in government schools. This is the lowest enrollment in all age groups and genders. The survey has revealed that 2022 recorded the highest enrollment in government schools after 2006 in the age group of 6-14 years. Nearly 70.8 children of this age group were enrolled in government schools. 2010 had the lowest percentage of enrollment at 61.8% in this age group.

READING

ASER learning assessments were conducted in different households. Children in the age group of 5-16 were assessed. The highest level in the ASER reading assessment in a Standard II level text. As per the assessment, it was recorded that 10.1% of third-standard students from private schools and 10.5% of students in public schools could read a Standard II-level text.


ARITHMETIC


An arithmetic tool is a progressive tool. Among children in Std III, 7.2% cannot even recognize 1-9, 12.4% can recognize numbers up to 9 but cannot recognize numbers up to 99 or higher, 46.7% can recognize numbers up to 99 but cannot do subtraction, 29.5% can do subtraction but cannot do division, and 4.2% can do division.

In most states, children are expected to do 2-digit by 2-digit subtraction with borrowing by Standard II. As per the assessment, it was recorded that 42.9% of the third-standard students from private schools and 29.2% from government schools could do basic subtraction.

READING AND COMPREHENSION IN ENGLISH

Data shows that in 2022 61% of fifth graders from private schools and 35.8% in government schools can read English sentences. The percentage of eighth graders who can read English was recorded as 65.5% in government schools and 82.8% in private schools.
