No state for women: Rachakonda leads in crime against females with 17.25% jump; dowry, murder top list

Cases of dowry murder, harassment, domestic violence, molestation, and POCSO increased in 2022. However, dowry deaths, abetment to suicide, women murder, rape, and kidnappings decreased in 2022.
The highest increase of 66.67 percent was recorded in dowry murders. The highest drop of 84 percent. was recorded in abetment to suicide cases. Molestation cases increased by 35.69 percent, harassment and domestic violence cases increased by 21.45 percent, and POCSO cases increased by 12.18 percent.
Women murder cases dropped by 63.64 percent, dowry deaths by 5.88 percent, kidnapping cases by 3.51 percent, and rape cases by 1.33 percent.

In Cyberabad, cases of crime against women reduced by 8.34 percent. In 2021, 2,363 cases of crime against women were recorded but the number fell to 2,166 in 2022.
Cases of women murders have reduced by 30.43 percent. Dowry deaths and dowry murders and bigamy dropped by 28.57 percent. There is a 13.19 percent reduction in cases of outraging the modesty of women. Rape cases dropped by 11.24 percent. Kidnapping cases dropped by 6.77 percent, dowry harassment reduced by 3.78 percent, and abetment to suicide reduced by 3.64 percent.
A total of 260 rape cases and POCSO cases were recorded in 2022 against 368 cases in 2021. Out of 260 reported cases, chargesheets were filed in 133 cases within 60 days. In 2021, chargesheets were filed in 27 cases out of 368 cases within the prescribed 60 days.
In Hyderabad, the number of cases of crime against women was 2,524 in 2022 against 2,652 cases in 2021. It shows a 4.8 percent drop. The number of POCSO cases also fell by 12.2 percent. 350 cases were recorded in 2022 against 399 cases in 2021.
Dowry murder cases remained the same- one case each in 2021 and 2022. The number of dowry deaths reduced from 15 in 2021 to 11 in 2022. Abetment to suicide cases increased from 24 to 25 as compared to last year. Compared to 2021, kidnapping cases increased from 99 to 126. Cases of outraging modesty were reduced from 525 to 511 and harassment cases were reduced from 1,636 to 1,418.
Vision 2023
Rachakonda police have decided to continue their fight against sexual abuse, domestic violence, and other crime against women. They have also taken up the quick filing of chargesheets in POCSO cases within the given time frame as one of their targets for the upcoming year.
Hyderabad police have decided to conduct awareness campaigns on sexual abuse, domestic violence, and other crimes against women. In 2023, they are planning to set up one cyber SHE Team exclusively for dealing with online harassment of women with advanced technology.
Cyberabad police, on the other hand, have decided to work towards early detection and finalization of crime against women. They are also planning to create a registry of sexual offenders for special monitoring.
