Telangana has 30.6 million electors; CEO rolls out voter enrolment drive

Hyderabad: The number of voters in Telangana has increased to 30.6 million, according to the draft roll for the second Special Summary Revision (SSR) published by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

Of these, 1,53,73,066 are male, 1,52,51,797 are female and 2,133 are from the third gender.

ā€œThe state has 119 assembly constituencies and 35,356 polling stations. The total number of general electors in the state is 3,06,26,996. There are 2,742 NRI electors and 15,337 service electors in the electoral roll. The number of young electors in the age group of 18-19 stands at 4,76,597,ā€ said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj,

The number of voters in Telangana has increased by 8,31,520 since the previous SSR in January 2023. However, 1,82,183 voters have also been deleted from the electoral roll. The total number of voters in the state now stands at 3,06,42,333.

Telangana rolls out voter enrollment drive

Telangana State Election Commission has rolled out a voter enrollment drive from August 21 to September 19, 2023. The drive is aimed at enrolling new voters and correcting errors in the electoral roll.

Officer Vikas Raj said that people can enroll as voters by submitting Form 6 at the local election office.

He also said that people whose names have been deleted from the electoral roll wrongfully can file an appeal under Section 24 of the Representation of People's Act, 1950 within 15 days of the deletion. The appeal can be filed at the District Election Officer's office.

The SEC has urged all eligible voters to enroll themselves in the electoral roll and exercise their right to vote.

Ensuring smooth voter enrollment drive

District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) have been directed to have weekly meetings with political parties during the 2nd SSR period. They will provide details of the forms received and the action taken on them.

All political parties have also been requested to appoint Booth Level Agents. The Booth Level Officers have been directed to conduct Booth Awareness Group meetings every week.
