The Air Force Academy at Dundigal, Hyderabad, will celebrate its golden jubilee on 16 January with a slew of events.

Several events like the Golden Jubilee Marathon, Academy Utsav, blood donation camp, and activities by the Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) have been planned to mark the day. The celebrations will culminate on 19 January with a training workshop and the release of Indian Postal department special cover by Air Chief Marshal R.K.S Bhadauria, the chief of the Air Staff.
The foundation stone of the Air Force Academy in Dundigal was laid by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then President of India, on 11 October 1967. On 16 January 1971, K. Brahmananda Reddy, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh formally inaugurated the Academy. During its fifty glorious years, the Air Force Academy has evolved progressively to become a world-class Academy to train Air Force officers. The Academy has always ensured that the highest standards of training are imparted to the commissioned officers to prepare them to tackle their future assignments and challenges unstintingly.
