Deputy speaker T Padma Rao and 2 children from family tested COVID +Ve

The trio, have been placed under home quarantine in Secunderabad. While medical reports of other contacts are awaited.
The deputy speaker resides with his extended family at Takara basthi in monda market of Secunderabad. The MLA has been engaged in several COVID relief activities in its constituency. Sources said, he was the first one to be infected from the joint family, while the virus spread to two of his grandchildren. The source of the virus is still un-traced.
On the same day, Telangana home minister Mahmood Ali was confirmed COVID positive. The deputy speaker marks the 2nd case in the day among the top guns in the Telangana state.
Meanwhile, Telangana reported 975 new COVID-19 cases on 29 June, the majority of them from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area. Six people died of the virus on Monday taking the total death toll in the state to 253.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 9,559 while the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the state so far has reached 15,394.
Of the 975 patients who tested positive for the virus on Monday, 861 people - 83 per cent - were from Hyderabad. Rangareddy, meanwhile, reported 40 new cases, while Medchal and Nalgonda saw 20 and two new cases, respectively. Also, 410 people have recovered and been discharged in the state. So far, 5,582 people have been discharged in Telangana.
