Devipatnam boat accident: Govt to reward saviours

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh state government on Friday announced R 25,000 reward to Kachuluru villagers for bravely rescuing the victims of the Godavari boat accident in Devipatnam.

While addressing the boat accident at a press conference on Friday, Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu said, “The search is ongoing for the capsized boat. Kachuluru villagers risked their lives to rescue around 26 people.” Appreciating the bravery of the villagers, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the District Collector to collect the details of the villagers who participated in the rescue operation

“The government is trying its best to rescue the boat. Some people are trying to politicise this incident. Even leaders like Chandrababu Naidu are talking inappropriately. If anyone is ready to rescue the boat, the government is ready to co-operate with them after discussing with experts,” said Kannababu. He added that a large number of people are working to recover the boat and the government is also trying to use all possible means to fix the issue.
