Dhanush not the reason for divorce, says Amala Paul

Hyderabad: Amala Paul is basking in the success of her performance in her last film Aadai. As the actress is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Adho Andha Paravai Pola, she has once again found herself in the middle of a controversy regarding her personal life, divorce, and her ex-husband and director A.L Vijay. The actress ended her marriage with Vijay sometime in 2017 due to trust issues.

A few weeks ago, A.L Vijayā€™s father, A.L Azhagappan, a noted producer in Kollywood, alleged that Dhanush was the reason behind Amala and Vijayā€™s divorce. Now, the Aadai actress has cleared the air surrounding her divorce in her latest interview with an online portal. In her interview, she defended Dhanush and said it was her own decision to part ways with Vijay and Dhanush was not the reason why they split.

Calling the Pattas actor a well-wisher, Amala Paul said that this was an unnecessary controversy and it was a very personal thing not to be discussed in public. During the promotions of Aadai, Amala confessed that she was seeing someone who had made many sacrifices for her so she could keep working on films. However, the actress later revealed that she has broken up with her boyfriend even though it was one of the most beautiful relationships she has had. She further said she is now concentrating on her present commitments and would let the world know about her marriage when she is in that phase.

A.L Azhagappan said that Amala had said she was going to quit doing movies after her marriage. But Dhanush gave her an opportunity to play the lead role in his production venture, Amma Kanaku, and she changed her decision. According to him, Dhanush was the reason behind their divorce.

Meanwhile, Vijay has moved on and married Aishwarya, a doctor, last year in a grand ceremony. Amala Paul, on the other hand, has her film Adho Andha Paravai Pola ready for release on 28 February.
