Did Rajinikanth slash his fee because of Darbar's poor performance?

The film, directed by A.R Murugadoss, released in about 4,000 screens in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Distributors who had been associated with Darbar are furious with the actor for not agreeing to a meeting with them and compensate for their losses.
The actor is now concentrating on his upcoming film Thalaivar 168, directed by Siruthai Siva. According to reports, Rajinikanth is charging a whopping Rs 118 crore for the film. However, due to Darbar's poor performance, the producer of Thalaivar 168 has asked Rajinikanth to take a salary cut.
Reportedly, Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures had a word with Rajinikanth asking him to cut down his fee from Rs 118 crore to Rs 58 crore. Maran, reportedly, was very insistent about his demand and was even ready to stall the film's shoot if the superstar didn't cut down his fee.
Initially, Rajinikanth was reluctant to slash his fee but later agreed to Rs 58 crore (including GST). The actor is presently shooting for Thalaivar 168 with Meena, Khushbu, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, and Soori. D Imman has composed the music for Thalaivar 168, while the cinematography is by Vetri, who had worked with director Siruthai Siva in his hit film Viswasam.
