Disciplinary action against Kothagudem DSP, hunt to trace contact persons

Hyderabad: Telangana police department has initiated disciplinary action against Kothagudem DSP SM Ali for violating the corona protocol by whisking away his London-return son Arbaz instead of putting him in the quarantine facility.

Police have relieved Ali from the post and attached him to the district police headquarters. Orders to this effect were issued by higher authorities on Tuesday. This action is besides the case booked under section 188 (disobedience to orders) of IPC, against the DSP and his son for dodging the quarantine period.

Notably, a day after the London-returned son was tested positive for COVID-19, the patient turned out to be the primary reason for local transmission. The DSP and their family cook have been tested positive.

The number of quarantined persons reached around 25 after COVID-19 tested positive for the virus. After DSP, his wife, two personal security officers (PSOs) and their domestic help were quarantined; officials started a contact tracing procedure, to control the spread of the virus.

Thee people include workers at the salon where the patient had a hair cut, DSP’s subordinates including four home guards, driver, office staff and others.

Further, officials are collecting the details of the people came in contact with patient. To note the family attended a wedding.

Police have asked the Bhadadri Kothagudem unit to find out the people who DSP met during the past week.
