Disha rape case: One of the accused mens father dead

Hyderabad: The father of one of the men accused in the rape and murder of 26-year-old veterinarian Disha died on Monday. Kumumaiah had been injured in an accident at Narayanpet in December 2019 and was undergoing treatment. He died on 9 March at his residence in Gudigandla village in Narayanpet district. His son Chennakeshavulu is one of the accused in the Disha rape and murder case. Three days ago, Chennakeshavulu’s teenage wife gave birth to a baby girl child at Mahabubnagar district hospital.

In December 2019, Kurumaiah was returning home from Jakalir village under Makthal mandal in Narayanpet district on a moped when a speeding car hit his vehicle. He received severe injuries to his head and other parts of the body. He was first rushed to the government hospital in Mahabubnagar but later taken to NIMS Hospital at Hyderabad where he was undergoing treatment till recently. Since he was showing signs of recovery, his family brought him home. On Monday noon, he breathed his last at his residence.

Kurumaiah 's son Chennakeshavulu, along with three others Mohd Arif, Jollu Shiva, and Jollu Naveen, allegedly kidnapped, raped, and killed Disha at Shamshabad. Later, they dumped her body under a culvert of the National Highway at Chattanpally near Shadnagar. A week later, they were allegedly gunned down in a police encounter when they tried to snatch weapons from the police and attack them. They were then brought to the spot for crime scene reconstruction.
