Minor wife of slain Disha rape accused delivers baby girl at Shadnagar

Hyderabad: A 14-year-old wife of slain rape accused Ch Chennakeshavulu delivered a girl child at Shadnagar.
Ch Chennakeshavulu was one of the four accused in the rape and murder of veterinarian Disha at Shadnagar in November 2019. He was shot dead along with three other co-accused in an alleged encounter in the first week of December.
His wife was six months pregnant when Ch Chennakeshavulu was killed. After the incident, it came to fore that she was only 14 years old. After the encounter, she announced that she will name her child after Disha.
Ch Chennakeshavulu had married the minor after one year of courtship. After the alleged encounter, Chennakeshavulu’s wife staged several protests demanding action against the police personnel involved in the incident.
Ch Chennakeshavulu, along with his friends Jollu Naveen, Jollu Shiva and Mohd Areef had allegedly raped and killed the veterinarian before dumping her body under the culvert on the National Highway near Shadnagar.
Two days later they were arrested. When they were being taken to the spot for crime scene reconstruction, they allegedly snatched the cop's weapon and fired on them. Police immediately retaliated and killed all the four accused.
