83% women drivers want more women traffic personnel, says Park+ survey
With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the expectations of Indian car owners have come into focus

With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the expectations of Indian car owners have come into focus. Park+, a leading super app for car owners, conducted a comprehensive survey to gauge the sentiments of over 50,000 car owners across major cities in India.
Key findings of the survey
Better road infrastructure: The survey revealed that 98 per cent of Indian car owners prioritise the improvement of road infrastructure. This demand aims to reflect the fundamental need for safe and efficient travel across the country.
Friendly traffic police: A staggering 81 per cent of car owners advocate for a more approachable and cooperative traffic police force.

Management of traffic and road rage: As much as 61 per cent of respondents emphasised the necessity for better management by traffic police to counter road rage and dangerous driving. This indicates the urgency of implementing measures to curb reckless behaviour on the roads.
Representation of women in law enforcement: Among women car owners, 83 per cent expressed the desire for more women traffic police personnel on highways and main roads. āThis underscores the need for gender diversity in law enforcement to address specific concerns of women drivers,ā according to the survey.
City-wise concerns
Different cities exhibit unique demands. For instance, car owners in Delhi NCR prioritise friendly traffic police personnel, while Mumbai residents are focused on countering waterlogging issues. Bengaluru car owners seek stricter rules for road rage, while Ahmedabad residents emphasise better road infrastructure. In Chennai, better traffic management during office hours is a top concern.
Amit Lakhotia, CEO and founder of Park+ emphasised the importance of understanding car ownersā pain points and collaborating with stakeholders to address them. He highlighted the significance of better roads and friendly law enforcement in enhancing the car ownership experience.
Akhilesh Srivastava, road safety ambassador acknowledged the challenges of driving on Indian roads and stressed the need for improvements in road infrastructure, traffic management, and law enforcement. He expressed optimism that the survey results would prompt political parties to take action and collaborate with stakeholders to make Indian roads safer and smarter.
