Double Gold for Telangana in the KHELO INDIA youth games in Guwahati
By Anurag Mallick Published on 14 Jan 2020 10:21 PM ISTHyderabad: The third edition of the KHELO INDIA youth games which began from January 10 is almost halfway done as all the 28 states along with 9 union territories participated in different sports which will go on till January 22 at Guwahati.
The KHELO INDIA youth games first began back in 2018 where a total of 16 different sports were played whereas, in the second edition, the sports increased to 19. In the third edition, the number of sports remained at 18.
Moving on to Telangana, they are currently placed 16th in the table with 2 Gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze out of the 13 games that they have participated.
In a very proud moment for Telangana, 17-year-old Nandini Agasara single-handedly won both the Gold medals for Telangana within 3 days. She won her first Gold in Under -17 girls long jump. She leaped to victory with a distance of 5.65 metres whereas she won her second gold on Tuesday in the hurdles category. She missed the National record by 0.05 seconds.
Moving onto fellow Telugu state Andhra Pradesh, they currently stand 23rd in the table with 1 silver and 1 bronze.
Defending Champions Maharashtra comfortably take the first place with 16 Gold, 19 silver and 35 bronze medals whereas Haryana is right behind Maharashtra on the second position with 16 gold medals but fall short in the silver and Bronze category.
Union Minister for sports and youth affairs, Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter to share the points table as on 13th Jan 2020, 6:30 pm and wrote - " Day 3 of the Khelo India Youth Games 2020, Maharashtra and Haryana are neck & neck closely followed by Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, UP, MPā¦"

He also thanked actor Sunil Shetty for joining him as the Brand Ambassador for Anti-Doping & creating awareness for clean sports all for free!
