DRDO job racket: Youth arrested for cheating dudes to tune of Rs 5L

Hyderabad: The Balapur police nabbed one person for cheating people in the name of giving jobs to them in DRDO, Hyderabad. He was also involved in preparing fake ID cards for those whom he had cheated.
The arrested, Aakula Praveen, 23 a resident of Saidabad in Hyderabad, chalked out a plan to cheat the gullible in the name of giving jobs. Accordingly, in 2018, he approached his close friend Varakantham Anil Reddy and told him that he would get him job as a supervisor in the finance department of DRDO, Hyderabad and he also took Rs. 3,61,000 from him.
Police said that Praveen made Anil believe that he knew Satish Reddy, the chairman of DRDO and that he is in contact with him on WhatsApp. He also made one fake ID card for Anil and put his photo on his (Praveen’s) WhatsApp status to make other friends also believe that he can get them jobs in the DRDO. Some of his friends, including Hari Babu, Sandeep, Laxman and Akhil, believed in Praveen and he collected Rs 1,83,936 from them in the name of providing them jobs. He also gave them fake appointment orders and fake ID cards of DRDO.
However, all the youth came to know that they were cheated by Praveen after they reached the DRDO office.
Praveen was sent to judicial remand.
