Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, Telangana Industry and IT Minister, has assured that a dry port in Nalgonda district will come up very soon. MSMEs are playing a vital role in generating employment opportunities for the Telangana youth, said the minister.

“The Telangana government would promote industries in the state, especially green industrial parks. The green industrial park will promote MSMEs, which account for 70 per cent of jobs in the industrial sector. The government has established all the infrastructure facilities for MSMEs. Moreover, the country's largest textiles park will be coming up at Warangal. Another dry port will also come up in the undivided Nalgonda district. I am assuring you of the dry port in the district. The initiatives of the Telangana government have become a role model for other states in the country,” said KT Rama Rao.

The industry minister on Friday inaugurated the green industrial park exclusively for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at Dandu Malkapur village, Choutuppal Mandal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

The green industrial park has been established at an investment of Rs1,553 crore over 435 acres. The MSME industrial park can accommodate over 500 units and is expected to generate 19,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs. TSIIC in association with Telangana Industrialists’ Federation (TIF) established the MSME green industrial park.

“The State government will expand the MSME green industrial park to 2,000 acres as more and more units come up here. I hope the green MSME industrial park will also lead the Harita Haram programme,” added KTR.

Bhongir MP Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy expressed concerns over the pollution caused by the pharma and chemical units.

"The state government should protect the farmers by implementing a good compensation package as they will lose lands in the process of industrialisation," said Venkat Reddy.

Komatireddy Rajagopala Reddy, Congress MLA from Munugodu Assembly constituency, said: "I had discussed with Industry Minister KTR on employment generation. We can create jobs only through industrialisation. I request the Telangana government to bring out a law on a local reservation in the industrial sector for dry port nalgonda. Unless local youth get jobs, the united Nalgonda district can't prosper.”
