Though the police are yet to ascertain the exact reasons for his suicide, they suspect that he might have killed himself due to his ill health. Sources said the DSP had been diagnosed with cancer.
In 2013, Krishna Varma was an inspector of police at the Three Town police station in Vizag. A few months ago, he had been appointed the assistant commissioner of police (traffic) in Vizag where he had played a great role in reducing the number of accidents along the NH-16 stretch in the city. Recently, he had been transferred to Srikakulam where he was the DSP.
The police said that Krishna Varma committed suicide when his family members were away from home. The police have sent his body to the morgue for autopsy. They have also registered a case and an investigation is underway. Sources said the police didn't recover any suicide note from the top cop's residence.
