22 Telangana Minority students secure free seats in medical colleges via NEET
TMREIS has been at the forefront of providing free education to students from economically backward minority communities
By Newsmeter Network Published on 1 Oct 2024 1:32 PM GMTHyderabad: In an achievement for the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS), 22 students who qualified in the NEET-UG 2024 have secured free seats in medical colleges across the State in the first round of counselling.
The announcement by chief minister Revanth Reddy and TMREIS president and vice-chairman Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi in a press statement on Tuesday.
TMREISā commitment to education
TMREIS has been at the forefront of providing free education to students from economically backward minority communities.
The initiative offers free books, hostel facilities and access to highly qualified faculty, enabling students to compete in national-level entrance exams.
āThis reflects the commitment of the Government of Telangana in ensuring that students from economically backward minority communities receive the best possible support to excel in competitive exams,ā said Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi.
NEET-UG 2024 performance
Out of 206 TMREIS students who appeared for NEET-UG 2024, 137 students, comprising 85 boys and 52 girls, successfully qualified for the examination.
The first round of counselling saw 22 of the students securing free medical seats. āWe are optimistic that an additional 50 MBBS seats will be secured by our students in the second and third phases of counselling,ā said a TMREIS official.
Free NEET coaching
While private institutions across Telangana charge up to Rs 4 lakhs per student for NEET coaching, TMREIS provides this training entirely free of cost.
Students from 204 Telangana Minorities Residential Junior Colleges (TMRJCs) are selected through a written examination and technical interview to join TMREIS Centres of Excellence, where they receive specialised coaching for IIT and NEET.

Faculty contributions
The success of the students has been attributed to the dedicated efforts of faculty members across various TMRJC institutions.
