Accenture to set up new campus in Vizag; seeks 10 acres of land from govt

Visakhapatnam: Accenture is set to establish a new campus in Visakhapatnam.

The global IT services giant has sought 10 acres of land from the state government and proposed to generate around 12,000 jobs in phases through the project.

Officials said the request for land allocation is under active consideration and is likely to be approved shortly.

Accenture, which has a global workforce of 7.9 lakh, employs over 1 lakh people in India. Following the pandemic, major tech firms have been expanding into tier-2 cities, and Visakhapatnam has emerged as a prime destination under the new IT policy introduced by the coalition government, which offers substantial subsidies to investors.

Currently, around 150 IT companies are operating in Madhurawada IT Hills and Visakhapatnam city. In this context, Accenture has presented its plans to the state government, outlining job creation, investment, and expansion strategies.

Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam continues to attract leading technology players:

TCS has already been allotted 22 acres in IT Hill-2 for campus expansion.

Google will receive 80 acres out of 200 acres identified in Tarluvada, Anandapuram mandal, for AI and cloud data centers.

Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. has been allotted 219 acres in Madhurawada.

With Accenture’s entry, Visakhapatnam’s stature as an emerging IT hub is expected to strengthen further.
