Hyderabad: Computer Science and its allied streams continue to top engineering admissions in Telangana this year.

Of the total 1.14 lakh engineering seats, over 26,000 seats are available in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) stream.

According to the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGSCHE), CSE has emerged as the most preferred branch among engineering aspirants in the state, reflecting the increasing demand for tech-related courses.

AI, Data Science, and Electronics Follow

After core Computer Science, CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) has 12,495 seats, while Electronics and Communication Engineering accounts for 10,125 seats.

Other emerging and core branches also have considerable intake, reflecting evolving industry demand and student preferences.

Web options and verification deadlines

The TGSCHE announced on Sunday that eligible candidates of TGEAPCET-2025 (Telangana Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test) can exercise their web options till July 10, while certificate verification will conclude on July 8.

So far, 76,494 candidates have completed certificate verification, and 95,654 candidates have paid the processing fee and booked slots for admissions.

Over 1L engineering seats this year

In total, Telangana has 1,07,218 engineering seats across 171 colleges this academic year. Of these, 76,795 seats (70 percent) will be filled under the Convenor quota, stated Sridevasena, Commissioner of Technical Education and Convenor, TGEAPCET-2025.

She urged students to choose as many options as possible to ensure they secure a seat in their preferred college and course in the first phase itself.

Seats distributed across institutions

According to the Council, 21 constituent engineering colleges under 10 universities have an intake of 5,808 seats. Additionally, two colleges under private universities offer 1,800 seats, of which 1,260 are under the Convenor quota.

A majority of the seats are available in 148 private unaided engineering colleges, which together offer 99,610 seats, with 69,727 seats under the Convenor quota.

Limited seats in specialized branches

While Computer Science-related streams have high availability, some specialized branches have limited seats. Agricultural Engineering has only 30 seats, while courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Automobile Engineering, Computer Science (Networks), Electronics Communication and Instrumentation, Electronic Telematics, Mechanical (Mechatronics), and Metallurgy and Material Engineering have 42 seats each, according to TGSCHE officials.
