Hyderabad: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and KIMS Foundation and Research Center (KFRC), a research unit of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Secunderabad.
KFRC is also a nodal center for all KIMS network hospitals for conducting research, training, and sharing knowledge and this is recognised by various Government of India funding agencies.
Under the MoU, the University of Hyderabad faculties from both institutions will take part in teaching and training Masters and doctoral (Ph.D) students in the area of biotechnology, molecular biology, cancer biology, regenerative medicines, neurology/neuroscience, cardiology, diagnosis, etc. Both partners will conduct invited lectures, conferences, seminars, and workshops for the benefit of their students.
Prof. Prakash Babu from UoH department of biotechnology and bioinformatics, School of Life Sciences, will serve as the coordinator from the university, and Dr. Vinod Kumar Verma, principal scientist, will serve as the coordinator from KFRC.
KFRC will institute three research fellowships which will be awarded on a merit basis to research scholars working jointly with UoH-KIMS-KFRC.
Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar of UoH, and KFRC chairman Dr. V. Bhujanga Rao signed the MoU in the presence of Prof. B.J Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of UoH; Prof. Siva Kumar, dean, School of Life Sciences; Prof. Prakash Babu; and Dr. Vinod Kumar.
