BITS, Pilani to establish AI+ campus in Amaravati; invest ₹1,000 crore, estimated 7000 students in two phases

Amaravati: Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is set to establish a cutting-edge AI+ campus in Amaravati, with an investment of ₹1,000 crore. `Artificial Intelligence Plus’ campus will span 35 acres and is expected to be operational by 2027. It will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in artificial intelligence, machine learning, innovation, and strategy, with an estimated enrollment of around 7,000 students in two phases.
Announcing the initiative, BITS Pilani Chancellor and Birla Group Chairperson Kumar Mangalam Birla also revealed plans to invest an additional ₹1,219 crore to upgrade the institute’s physical infrastructure and strengthen its long-term research and development capabilities.
Additionally, BITS Pilani Digital was launched to broaden the institute’s academic reach through flexible, industry-relevant online programs. Over the next five years, this platform aims to introduce 32 programs—comprising 11 degree and 21 certificate courses—targeting over 1 lakh learners. The offerings will include real-world project experiences, career support, and optional on-campus immersion opportunities.
