CM Revanth: BRS neglected plight of unemployed youth; enrollment in govt schools must increase

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has come down heavily on the previous BRS government for allegedly lacking sincerity in addressing the plight of the unemployed during their decade-rule in the State.

CM Revanth Reddy, on Wednesday, handed over appointment letters to the newly recruited 1,292 junior lecturers and 240 polytechnic lecturers at a programme held at Ravindra Bharathi here.

ā€˜Negligence of previous govt wasted time of job aspirantsā€™

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, ā€œIt is not just a job for the unemployed youth; it is an emotion. The role of the unemployed youth is significant in the achievement of Telangana State. The hard work and commitment of the unemployed in the formation of the peopleā€™s government is praiseworthy.ā€

CM Revanth Reddy said that due to the negligence of the previous government, job aspirants wasted 12 years of valuable time. ā€œThe peopleā€™s government has filled 55,163 jobs in the first year of coming to power. The government provided a permanent solution to the unemployment problem, which is one of the main foundations of the Telangana movement. The future of the country lies in the classrooms. The future of the country's economy is linked to education,ā€ he said.'

ā€˜New staff should raise educational standardsā€™

The chief minister also said that the government resolved the issue of transfers and promotions of teachers pending for a long time and brought reforms in the Education department. Expressing his concern over the declining educational standards, he said that is a matter of great concern, and it is also an insult to the State. All the newly recruited teaching staff should perform and raise the educational standards with the same emotion they showed during the Telangana movement, he added.

Elaborating further, CM Revanth Reddy said that government schools and colleges should compete with private corporate schools. Student enrolment is dwindling in the government schools every year and increasing in the private institutions. He appealed to the teaching staff to think seriously about the issue.

ā€œSpending money on the students is not an expenditure but an investment in the future. We need to examine the main reason for declining the number of students studying in the government schools,ā€ he said.

Young India Skills University

Informing the initiatives being taken by the government in the education department, the chief minister said that Young India Integrated Schools are being constructed to raise educational standards in government schools. For this initiative, around Rs 11,000 crore was allocated to set up 55 Young India Integrated schools. Apart from that, the government is also setting up Young India Skills University to increase the skills of students and the unemployed. There is a need to develop Telangana State to compete with the world, he said.

Eyes on Olympics

CM Revanth Reddy also said that along with the Young India Sports University, the government is also setting up the Young India Sports Authority, aiming to win medals in the Olympics.

ā€œWe are ready to encourage those who excelled in sports. The government even relaxed the rules and gave a job to international cricketer Mohammad Siraj. World Boxing champion Nikhat Zareen was also given a DSP post in the police department. A government job and house site were allotted to Deepthi Jeevanji, who excelled in the Paralympics,ā€ the chief minister said.

ā€˜KCR gave financial cancer to Stateā€™

Launching a tirade against a section of people talking about stature, CM Revanth Reddy said, ā€œLeaders who spoke about stature are lying on the stretcher today. Stature is for positions and not for people. My government inherited debts and blunders committed by the KCR government. The government will have to pay Rs 6,500 crore every month to clear the debts and interest on loans borrowed by the previous government.ā€

The chief minister said, ā€œKCR presented financial cancer as a gift to the state. If the cancer is getting worse, does it mean the State is bankrupt? How long will they hide the truth? When I disclosed the facts, the opposition was making hue and cry and targeted him, demanding to get down. The entire KCR family is uttering lies like a family package. I will not run the state based on lies. I will share the facts with you and work for the development of the state. Public cooperation is required to build a bright future for the next generations in Telangana.
