Hyderabad: Aspirants selected for TGPSC Group-1 Mains have appealed to Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) chairman M Mahender Reddy to reschedule the Group-1 Mains Examination scheduled for October.
Recently, the aspirants wrote a letter to the TGPSC chairman, highlighting their concerns including:
Pending court cases: As of now, there are multiple (approximately 14) court cases pending against the TGPSC related to the Group-1 recruitment process.
The aspirants are particularly concerned with wrong key questions and GO 29 cases. The uncertainty surrounding these cases is causing immense anxiety among the aspirants, and the outcomes of these cases could significantly change the Prelims selection list and affect the results of the examination and the recruitment process as a whole.
Potential loss to students: In the unfortunate event that the court rulings are not in favour of the TGPSC, the student community could face severe setbacks.
Students would have to bear additional financial burdens due to re-examinations, along with facing mental stress, uncertainty and family pressure. Many aspirants have invested significant time, effort and resources in preparing for this examination, and conducting the exam amid unresolved legal disputes would put them at a great disadvantage.
Past precedents (2011, 2018 and 2024) issues: The aspirants also brought attention to a similar incident that occurred in 2011 when the APPSC Group-1 Mains Examination had to be conducted twice due to legal issues.
There is also an example of the APPSC Group-1 2018 case and the recent case of Deepender Yadav (MPPSC) where the Prelims selection list was changed due to the orders of the court. These precedents show the potential consequences of proceeding with the examination under unresolved disputes. Learning from past experiences, it would be prudent to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
Objection to second mains and normalisation: The aspirants strongly objected to any attempt to conduct a second Mains examination for newly selected candidates, if such a situation arises.
They also oppose the normalisation of the Mains exam, as it is bound to favour candidates writing the second Mains, as seen from the Deepender Yadav case (MPPSC). This would result in an unfair advantage and further exacerbate disparities among aspirants.
Considering the gravity of the situation and the potential impact on lakhs of students, the aspirants urged the TGPSC to reconsider the examination schedule and reschedule the Group-1 Mains Examination until a time when important legal matters impacting the Prelims selection list have been conclusively resolved.
