Hyderabad: Telangana High Court refused to stay the Group -2 examination as all arrangements have been finalized.
Ravula Jyothi and 22 other students from different districts had filed the writ petition praying for rescheduling the exam as it coincides with the railway test.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Justice Pulla Karthik refused to stay the exam.
Standing Counsel for the TG State Public Service Commission informed the court that the Group-2 examination will be held from December 15 to 16. He said 5,51,000 students have applied for the exam and over one lakh candidates have already downloaded the Hall Tickets as of December 9.
Moreover, all arrangements for the examination have been completed. Stalling the examination will deprive students of the opportunity to write the Group 2 examination.
Justice Pulla Karthik also heard the counsel for the petitioners. He said the Railway Recruitment Board vide its notification dated 27-7-2024 has notified 7,951 posts [(Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant, Chemical Supervisor (Research,) and Metallurgical Supervisor (Research)] scheduled to be held between December 16 to 18 December, 2024, which coincides with the date of the Group-2 examination.
Further, if the date of the Group -2 examination is rescheduled, the petitioners can appear for both competitive examinations, which will be beneficial to them.
After considering the contentions of the Standing counsel for the TG PSC, the court said that at this stage, the Group -2 Examination cannot be stayed. The court issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Secretary, TG Public Service Commission, Secretary, Railway Recruitment Board, Lallaguda, Secunderabad, and the Union Railway Ministry, represented by its Secretary, New Delhi, and adjourned the matter.
