Hyderabad: Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has started the admission process for B.Ed. (ODL) program for the academic year 2024-2025.

In-service teachers and D.El.Ed holders are eligible for admission to the program. The last date for submission of the online application form is October 30, 2024.

The e-prospectus and Online Application form is available at manuu.edu.in/dde.

The forms are to be submitted online with a registration fee. Candidates will be selected on the basis of the Entrance Test (ET). For further details, candidates may contact the Student Support Unit (SSU) Helplines at 040-23008463 or 040-23120600 (Extn. 2207 & 2208) from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm or visit the website manuu.edu.in/dde.

Candidates are advised to go through the E-Prospectus carefully before filling up the application.

What is the course?

The Bachelor of Education program, generally known as B.Ed., is a professional program that prepares teachers to teach students of upper primary (classes VI-VIII), secondary (classes IX- X) as well as senior secondary (Classes XI-XII) levels. The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in ODL mode, is a professional program for in-service teachers, a second degree in teacher education, primarily intended for upgrading the professional competence of working teachers in the upper primary, secondary schools, and senior secondary level who have entered the profession without formal secondary teacher training.

Qualification.

The duration of the program is two academic years (4 Semesters). However, the maximum period allowed for completion of the program is five years with four semesters.

B.Ed. offered through ODL mode is a professional program for in-service teachers.

This is a second degree in teacher education, primarily intended for upgrading the professional competence of working teachers in the primary, secondary, and senior secondary levels who have entered the profession without formal secondary teacher training. It aims to prepare in-service teachers for the secondary stage of education by the NCTE's notifications regarding minimum qualifications for teacher recruitment. (Preamble, NCTE B.Ed. (ODL) Norms and Standards, 2014).
