IIT Jodhpur invites applications for part-time MTech course, deadline 10 June

Hyderabad: Admissions are open for a part-time MTech program in augmented reality and virtual reality (AR & VR) at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur in cooperation with the TIH iHub Drishti Foundation for the semester.

From the 2023–2024 session, IIT Jodhpur will offer a part-time MTech course to meet the immediate need for a working workforce educated in cutting-edge AR and VR technology.

The program is open to working professionals with a B.E., B.Tech., M.Sc., or MCA degree in any field. The deadline for interested applicants to submit their applications is 10 June.

This program is being offered by the School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at IIT Jodhpur, and it will be the second batch or cohort.

Working people have the option to enroll in the program and earn an MTech in AR-VR technologies as off-campus students, with a maximum of 15 days of on-campus time per semester.

The program must last at least two academic years, during which time a student must earn 60 credits.

The training content will be overseen by academic staff from a number of IITs and business professionals.

The candidates will be chosen based on programming, a written exam, an interview, or any other factors that the admissions committee deems appropriate. One can learn more about the requirements, deadlines, and other application details at https://ihub-drishti.ai/mtecharvr/.

Speaking about the importance of this course for working professionals, Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, director, of IIT Jodhpur, said, “This ground-breaking program, a first of its type from IIT Jodhpur, was designed in conjunction with specialists from numerous scientific domains, including business professionals, as AR and VR become more and more significant technology.”

To be eligible for the degree, students must complete 60 credits according to the course format over a minimum of two years.

The students will become knowledgeable in fields like game development, medical applications, AR/VR-based training simulators, navigation and tracking in AR/VR, scanning and 3D reconstruction, sensor data fusion, image synthesis, rendering, and animation.
