Amaravati: For one day, chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and deputy CM Pawan Kalyan took up the roles of teachers, attending a parent-teacher meeting.

On Saturday, 45,094 government schools, 35 lakh students and 71 lakh parents attended the mega parent-teacher meeting held in the State.




CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu along with Minister Lokesh attended the PTM at Bapatla Municipal High School, while Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan attended the event at a school in Kadapa.




While CM Naidu and Pawan Kalyan sat in the classrooms and interacted with the students. After an interaction with the students, they ate mid-meals along with them.




Speaking at the event, Naidy said, ā€œSwarna Andhra Pradesh Vision 2047 is aimed at increasing annual income to USD 42,000 to USD 43,000 (per annum) which is 15 times more than the present levels. If you want to increase income, wealth has to be created. If you want to create wealth, students should acquire knowledge,ā€ he said.

Attacking the previous YSRCP government, Naidu said the Jagan regime has payment dues of Rs 6,500 crore pertaining to the education department. He alleged that not even a single DSC (District Selection Committee) was set up for recruiting teachers in government schools in the last five years.

"How will the educational standard improve without a teacher ?" he wondered.

The CM reiterated the need to increase the population as the country will have more aging people in future. He opined that the meeting has the potential to get recognition by Guinness Books of World Records.

Speaking at the event in Bapatla, Nara Lokesh said, ā€œThe parent-teacher meetings are held everywhere but our parent-teacher meeting initiative created a record for being the largest and most well-attended. We have requested all peopleā€™s representatives also to be present. With these meetings, a spiritual bond is formed between the school and the parents. It paves the way for the golden future of the students. Through this meeting, the problems of the schools will be known. We are doing some tests in collaboration with the health department and are also including the report. Due to this, the parents and teachers will know the health of the students and how to sustain it.ā€




Political events at schools to be discouraged

Minister Lokesh also spoke about the other initiatives being undertaken by the education department. Primarily among them is the removal of the non-teaching workload from the teachers. Minister Lokesh also spoke about filling up the outstanding teacher posts in six months through a mega DSC.

In line with the decision, the CM said that all political events have been discouraged from schools. No political photos and colours will be used in schools anymore.

For students studying in classes 1 to 12, Rs 944 crores have been allotted for the ā€˜Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra Student Kitsā€™. Under the ā€˜Dokka Seethamma Midday Meal Schemeā€™ the government of Andhra Pradesh is providing delicious, quality and nutritious food to lakhs of students respecting local food habits.

Minister Lokesh also spoke about the importance of inculcating values, morals and morality in young students. In this regard, necessary changes are being incorporated into the curriculum.
