NEET 2022: Telangana's Sidharth bags AIR 5; 4 from TS, 3 from AP in top 50

Sidharth Rao of Telangana ranked fifth in the country with 711 points and a percentile of 99.9997166.
Four students from Telangana, including Rao, were in the top 50 all-India rankings. The other candidates include Chappidi Lakshmi Charitha (37th overall in India), Kachana Jeevan Kumar Reddy (41st overall in India), and Vurum Aadhithi (50th rank). In fact, Lakshmi Charitha was the top female candidate in the state.

Tanishka, a student from Rajasthan, scored 715 and secured the all-India first rank with 99.99 percentile while V. Ashish Batra from Delhi ranked second, Hrishikesh Nagabhushan from Karnataka got the third rank and Rucha Pavash got the fourth rank.
18.72 lakh registered for NEET 2022
This year, 18.72 lakh people registered for the entrance exam. The NEET-UG exam was held on 17 July and over 95% of registered candidates took the exam. The exam was held at 3,570 centres across 497 cities in India and 14 cities in other countries.
In total, 61,207 candidates from Telangana registered for the entrance exam and 59,296 of them appeared. Of these, 35,148 qualified the exam.
TS student tops in PwD category
Vasarla Jaswanth Sai of Telangana topped the country's PwD male category with a rank of 2493.
Similarly, Telangana's Mudavath Litesh Chouhan and Gugulothu Shivani who secured 400 and 715 ranks, respectively, ranked first and second in the ST category.
61% candidates qualify NEET in AP
In Andhra Pradesh, 61.77% of students qualified for NEET 2022. In total, 65,305 students appeared for the exam, of which 40,344 qualified.
Andhra Pradesh has 11 government, 15 private, and two minority medical colleges. They have a total of 5,060 MBBS seats (converner, management and NRI quota). There are 2,185 seats (including additional EWS seats) in 11 government medical colleges. A majority of the seats are in Andhra Medical College, Guntur Medical College, Kurnool Medical College, and Rangaraya (Kakinada) College (250 each), while Ongole RIMS has the lowest number of seats, 120.
Under the All India quota, 325 seats, and under the state quota, 1,890 seats will be filled in government medical colleges.
There are 140 seats in two government dental colleges and more than 1,400 BDS seats in 14 private dental colleges.
