Hyderabad: The Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, on Monday announced that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (undergraduate) 2021 will be held on 12 September 2021 across the country following COVID-19 protocols. The application process will begin from 5 p.m on 13 July through the NTA website(s).

In view of the surge in coronavirus cases, the Central government had postponed the NEET-UG 2021 examination. The examination was scheduled for 1 August.

Earlier on Sunday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had vehemently denied that a notification declaring that NEET UG would be conducted on 5 September 2021 had been issued.

The education minister also said that in order to ensure social distancing norms, the number of cities where examinations will be conducted has been increased from 155 to 198. The number of examination centres will also be increased from 3,862.

"To ensure adherence to COVID-19 protocols, face masks will be provided to all candidates at the centre. Staggered time slots during entry and exit, contactless registration, proper sanitization, and seating with social distancing will also be ensured," said Mr. Pradhan.
