Hyderabad: Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has made it clear that students will not be allowed to make any last-minute corrections in their personal details during the Intermediate annual examinations starting February 25.

The Board has directed all students to verify their details meticulously before November 30, warning that blank OMR sheets will not be issued this year under any circumstances.

Past practice discontinued

Until last year, the Board used to supply blank OMR sheets to examination centres to help students rectify errors that cropped up at the last minute, such as wrong second language, incorrect group, misprinted father’s name, or wrong medium.

Officials said this practice often led to confusion, clerical errors, and delays in the declaration of results, prompting the Board to discontinue it this year.

Strict verification of Nominal Rolls

The Board has instructed college principals to display Nominal Rolls (NRs) well in advance and ensure that every student verifies their personal and academic details thoroughly.

Parents, too, must be invited to the colleges to cross-check the details and give written confirmation through their signatures. Officials expressed concern that this verification process had not been properly followed in several institutions in the past.

Hundreds of errors every year

According to officials, hundreds of errors in OMR sheets are detected every year, mainly due to negligence at the fee payment and verification stages. The correction process, which involved replacement with blank OMR sheets, frequently resulted in technical complications and delayed results, causing hardship to students.

SMS alerts to 10 lakh parents

To ensure wider awareness, the Board has been sending SMS alerts to parents of nearly 10 lakh Intermediate students across government and private colleges on examination fee deadlines, nominal roll verification, and practical examination schedules. Officials said the digital alert system had significantly improved compliance this year.

Fee payment timeline

Around 92% students paid fees with a Rs 100 late fine following SMS alerts. From Wednesday, fee payment will be accepted with a Rs 500 late fine. With a Rs 2,000 late fee, students can pay the examination fee up to December 15

Final warning to students

Board officials issued a final reminder that any mistake left uncorrected in Nominal Rolls by November 30 will reflect directly in hall tickets, OMR sheets, and final results, and no further corrections will be entertained at examination centres.
