Hyderabad: Denying allegations of seat blocking, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr. B. Karunakar Reddy said the counselling for post-graduate admissions to private medical colleges in the state was held transparently.
He said that five students who had reportedly applied from other states had complained to the university alleging that someone had uploaded their certificates and that it was not them.
Director of medical education K. Ramesh Reddy asked all PG medical seat aspirants in the state not to worry and added that only 10% of seats are allotted for management quotas. "Management quota seats do not have reservations. Seats can be obtained from anywhere in the country," he said.
On Wednesday, the university registrar filed a complaint with the Warangal police seeking an investigation into the alleged blocking of PG seats by applicants from other states.
When the university contacted these applicants, they said they had not applied for the seats and that someone else had uploaded their certificates. This led to suspicion falling on private medical colleges.
Usually, candidates with good NEET scores apply for seats in medical colleges in other states and hold on to these seats till the last round of counselling and make an exit at the last moment paying a penalty. The college then fills these seats with the management quota by collecting lakhs of money, it has been alleged.
