Hyderabad: With the CBSE board exams beginning on February 15, students across the country are gearing up for a crucial phase in their academic journey. The exams will continue for nearly two months, with Class 10 students appearing from February 15 to March 18 and Class 12 students from February 15 to April 4.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released guidelines to ensure a smooth and fair examination process. Students and parents can access all relevant details on the official website, cbse.gov.in.
Key Guidelines for CBSE Board Exams 2025
CBSE has issued several instructions that students must follow:
• Attendance Requirement: A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory to be eligible for the exams.
• Admit Card: Students must carry their admit cards, without which they will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
• Exam Timing: Exams will begin at 10:30 AM.
• Sufficient Gaps Between Papers: The board has ensured enough gaps between two major subjects to allow students adequate preparation time.
• Coordination with Entrance Exams: Class 12 board exams will conclude before major entrance exams to help students manage their schedules.
• Passing Criteria: Students must secure at least 33% marks in each subject and overall to pass. In subjects with practical exams, students need 33% in both theory and practical separately to qualify.
• Use of Stationery: Students can use blue or royal blue gel pens, but whiteners are not allowed.
• Re-evaluation Process: Students applying for re-evaluation should note that marks may increase or decrease based on verification.
Student Concerns and Exam Preparation
As the exams approach, students are balancing their revision schedules and managing exam stress.
“I’ve been following a strict study plan for the last few months, but the pressure is building up,” said Anshika Sharma, a Class 12 student. “The exam gap helps, but preparing for both boards and entrance exams is a challenge.”
For Class 10 students, the board exams are their first major academic milestone. “I’m a bit nervous, especially about math and science,” shared Vedanth Verma, a Class 10 student. “I keep revising sample papers and making notes to stay confident.”
Common Questions Answered
CBSE has addressed several frequently asked questions to help students navigate the exams effectively:
• Sequence of Answers: Students can attempt questions in any order but should write the correct question number.
• Spelling Mistakes & Word Limit: No marks are deducted for exceeding the word limit, but spelling errors may result in deductions in language papers.
• Rewriting Answers: If a student submits the answer sheet early and realizes a mistake, they can request it back within the allotted exam time.
Tips for a Smooth Exam Experience
With just days left for the exams, students should focus on time management, revision, and staying calm. Experts suggest practicing previous years’ question papers, maintaining a healthy routine, and getting enough rest before exam days.
“Instead of last-minute cramming, I am revising key topics and making sure I understand concepts well,” said Megha Rao, another Class 12 student.
