Prof Sandeep Shukla from IIT Kanpur to take charge as director of IIIT Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Professor Sandeep Shukla of IIT Kanpur is set to become the next director of IIIT Hyderabad.
The governing council of the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, made the announcement and stated that he is set to assume office in August 2025.
The announcement was made during IIIT Hyderabad’s convocation ceremony held in the city on Saturday, July 12.
Transition in leadership
Professor PJ Narayanan, who has served as director of IIIT Hyderabad since 2013, will be stepping down from his position. Under his leadership, the institute saw significant growth in research, innovation and academic programs. His departure marks the end of a decade-long tenure and opens a new chapter for the institution.
Background and expertise
Professor Sandeep Shukla is currently a professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is widely recognised for his research in cybersecurity, embedded systems and blockchain technologies.
